
Whitney (Whit) Pow

Whit Pow is an assistant professor in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. Their work is forthcoming in Camera Obscura and has been published in Feminist Media Histories, JCMS, the art magazine Outland, ROMchip: A Journal of Game Histories, and in Gendered Lives, Intersectional Perspectives edited by Gwyn Kirk and Margo Okazawa-Rey, among others. Pow’s book project, People Orientations: Toward a Transgender Video Game and Software History, looks at the intersection of queer and trans medical history, surveillance, and policy with computer and video game history. Pow is a recipient of the NYU Center for the Humanities Fellowship and the Institute for Citizens and Scholars’s Career Enhancement Fellowship, funded by the Mellon Foundation.
